Catalytic Converter Features
My Check Engine Light Is on. What Does That mean?
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or computer is designed to monitor all the emission components on the vehicle amongst other things. When a component is operating outside its pre-determined parameters, the PCM records this information and alerts the driver of the vehicle that a problem may exist by illuminating the warning light or Check Engine Light (CEL).
I Received Code P0420 On My Vehicle. What Do I Do?
By definition, P0420 code reads “bank one Catalyst Efficiency low”. A vehicle displaying this code indicates that something is causing the converter to operate out of specification. Further diagnostics and/or inspection is required before determining the part is defective.
What is the difference between CARB and Federal/EPA catalytic converters?
CARB-compliant catalytic converters meet stricter emissions standards and are designed for approved vehicle applications in California, Colorado, New York, and certain vehicles in Maine.
Federal/EPA-compliant catalytic converters meet federal emissions standards and are designed for approved vehicle applications in states where CARB compliance is not required. Federal/EPA converters cannot be sold or installed in California, Colorado, or New York.
Always verify your vehicle’s emissions certification, state regulations, and converter compatibility before purchasing.
Should I Buy a Direct-Fit or Universal Catalytic Converter?
Engineered specifically for your vehicle’s year, make, and model, MagnaFlow Direct-Fit Catalytic Converters deliver a factory-quality fit with a true bolt-on design. Vehicle-specific flanged and slip-fit connections eliminate the need for cutting, welding, or modifications, simplifying installation and reducing labor time. Each converter includes application-specific installation hardware, such as gaskets and mounting components, for a more complete, efficient replacement. Included hardware varies by application.
Engineered for versatility, MagnaFlow Universal Catalytic Converters offer a cost-effective replacement solution across a wide range of vehicles and exhaust systems. Built with durable materials and available in multiple inlet and outlet sizes, they provide flexible fitment while supporting emissions compliance. Professional installation is recommended, as cutting, welding, or fabrication may be required.
